Senior Selfies Aims to Help Those Suffering From Alzheimer’s Disease

Seniors aged 65 and over are being encouraged to take a photo of themselves, and in exchange, Synergy Homecare will donate $5 for each selfie they receive. The home care service company has discovered that many elderly people who suffer from dementia and Alzheimer’s disease find it difficult to smile but when they see a picture of themselves, they often break into a natural smile.
When the group ran the initiative in 2016 it raised $50,000 dollars and it hopes to raise even more this year. Seniors are invited to post their selfies on the Synergy Homecare Facebook page using the hashtags #seniorselfie and #EndALZ.
