ADDFThe Alzheimer’s Drug Discovery Foundation (ADDF) is proud to announce that it is the Official Charity Partner of the 2015 TCS New York City Marathon. The Foundation is inviting runners that were not able to secure individual spots in the 2015 TCS New York City Marathon to be part of the Runners for Alzheimer’s Research team and run on Sunday, November 1, 2015.

Howard Fillit, who is the Chief Science Officer and Founding Executive Director of ADDF said in a press release: “The Alzheimer’s Drug Discovery Foundation is thrilled to partner with the TCS New York City Marathon as an official charity partner. The TCS New York City Marathon provides a powerful platform for our runners to shine a light on a cause that impacts 44 million people worldwide. We will support our runners throughout their memorable journeys as they work to completing this race, all while raising critical funds to accelerate the discovery of drugs to prevent, treat and cure Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias.”

This year, almost 300 official charity collaborators are expected to join the 2015 TCS New York City Marathon.

The ADDF was founded in 1998 to provide funding so that scientists can conduct their research projects that might lead to the discovery of breakthrough drugs and advance research in the Alzheimer’s field. Thanks to donors, the ADDF invested more than $70 million that funded 450 drug discovery programs in biotechnology companies and academic centers all over the world. Currently, Alzheimer’s disease cannot be prevented, slowed or cured.

Those running for the ADDF’s Runners for Alzheimer’s Research team will be crucial in helping to advance the foundation’s efforts to battle against Alzheimer’s disease.

“We warmly welcome the Alzheimer’s Drug Discovery Foundation as an official charity partner for the 2015 TCS New York City Marathon. All of our participants are inspired to run for reasons significant and special to them, and we are especially appreciative of those who make a meaningful commitment to run on behalf of one of our official charity partners. We wish the best to all of these runners as they begin to plan and prepare for an experience of a lifetime,” said Mary Wittenberg, the CEO and President of New York Road Runners.
