This App Is Raising Alzheimer’s Awareness in the Most Innovative Way

Shazam, the app that displays song lyrics as they’re playing, has teamed up with Innocean Worldwide U.K., Tristan Lenczner, and Alzheimer’s Society U.K. to raise awareness of the disease among younger generations.

Although Alzheimer’s disease tends to affect older people, there are cases of young-onset Alzheimer’s that can strike in a person’s 50s or even early 40s.

Memory loss is one of the most commonly associated symptoms of Alzheimer’s so Shazam tapped into this by “forgetting” song lyrics. According to adweek.com, when the app finally remembered the lyrics it directed users to the Alzheimer’s U.K. page so they could donate to the charity.
