A recent study has found that listening to music or meditating for 12 minutes each day may help to reverse memory loss in people who have subjective cognitive decline (SCD), a condition which may lead to the development of Alzheimer's disease. Sixty people were asked to participate in a kirtan kriya meditation program or a music listening program consisting of 12 minutes per day for three months, followed by a further three months of participating in the program when they wanted to. After the first three months, both groups showed a significant improvement in cognitive and memory performance, by six months the improvements were either maintained or enhanced.
