A new pop-up restaurant in Tokyo was encouraging its waitstaff to make mistakes, because according to The Spoke, it purposely hired people who suffer from dementia.
The Restaurant of Order Mistakes had been opened by the nonprofit organization Maggie’s Tokyo to raise awareness and reduce some of the stigma associated with the disease.
News of the restaurant and what it was trying to achieve soon went viral and hundreds of customers showed up to sample the delights of the eatery. All with the complete understanding that the food delivered to their table may not match what they had actually ordered.
While the restaurant was only open for a two-day period, it was a huge success and the organizers are planning another pop-up event in September.
