David Cassidy Passes Away at 67
Superstar David Cassidy has passed away at the age of 67 from organ failure. Cassidy was born on April 12, 1950 in New York City. His whole family was in show business — his mother was an actress and his father was a singer and actor — so he came by his career path naturally.
Cassidy was most well-known for his role on The Partridge Family — a show that catapulted him to fame in the 1970s. His character, Keith Partridge, quickly became a teen heartthrob, and made David Cassidy very famous, very fast. In fact, it’s believed that at one point, Cassidy’s fan club had more members than Elvis Presley’s and The Beatles’ clubs combined. The show and the fame created a foundation for Cassidy’s incredibly successful music career. He went on to sell more than 30 million albums and earned several Grammy nominations.

Earlier this year, Cassidy revealed that he was battling dementia and that he would be taking a step back to “enjoy life.” He’s spoken openly about the disease and its devastating effects, as both his mother and grandfather battled it as well.

Cassidy is survived by his two children, Beau and Katie Cassidy; his stepmother, Shirley Jones; and his two brothers, Shaun and Patrick Cassidy.
